The speakers these past two weeks were awesome. It's so wonderful to see people really dedicated to what they do, but more importantly to want to help out others. They both made me so pumped to go start a fundraiser; especially on one on the Bethlehem House. Gah! Their campaign was so amazing and uplifting! I wanted to give her money right after the video!

Now it's time to work on my ideas. Thank goodness for the days off!

Whelp. Narrative Inquires are DONE!

I act like I didn't enjoy it, which is false because I did actually enjoy getting to know my Organization better. Especially since the organization I finalized on is ran by one of my dearest friends. This is not the same non profit I showed to everyone in class. In fact it doesn't even deal with theater.

But you will hear more about it when we talk about our fundraisers.

Since my friend is in charge of said non profit, I didn't have to go through the too much of a hassle to gain information- I just had to call him before work!

Not going to lie; when going over writing Need Statements and Case Statements, I felt a little overwhelmed. I mean I think our book gives a great description of what not to do, what information is crucial, and all that jazz but personally I like to see examples. I want to SEE what is a good Case/Need Statement, rather than a couple of bullets points of what to watch out for. 

This is reason number 34 why I love our teacher. When she handed out that huge booklet of examples I wanted to weep. My confidence in doing these projects soared while going over them- picking them apart and seeing what worked and what didn't. I liked that they all kinda sucked (at least ours did). Not only do I know what format is acceptable; I know from others what sound awful and what sounds professional. 

Example: Do not start off your sentence with, "The need for a Breast Cancer Prevention Project is Great!" 

That was my personal favorite. 

This is very new to me. 

I've never been involved in a non profit organization. It's not that I haven't been interested, It's just never crossed my mind. I guess it's a bit of ignorance. There are many things I'm passionate about. It just never got past reblogging or liking on Facebook. 

 I'm a little scared in all honesty. I don't want to come off a naive to my classmates. They all seem twelve steps ahead. But I've always loved a challenge and already I know it's going to be one.

That's why This blog is called Beginning of Advocacy. For many reason this is my beginning. This blog will be a lot like a journey. I want to talk about all of the struggles and up sides of this semester within this class. Not just for me, but for any one else wanting to write but not sure how to help. 

It's gonna be a doosie... that's all I know.
